Amazing...the red and gold combination is just overpoweringly sensual. Look at those lips...and fingernails...mmm...

Victoria Beckham for Vogue UK February 2011
It's amazing to think that, what with all the negativity and derision that she attracts, Victoria Beckham must be on some level a reasonably popular celebrity. I remain ambivalent. This month's cover, redolent of Vogue UK from the early 80s (is there a Dianaesque flavour here?), is clearly meant to soften the harder edges of her aesthetic and reputation but I'm not sure how much it succeeds.
As I said though I remain ambivalent. The Vogue UK April 2008 cover with VB remains one of my favourite magazine covers of all time. There is barely any personal identity here though. She is more bauble, statue, than human.

Happy New Year + Overpowering Sexuality: Michelle Williams for Vogue UK April 2008
Happy New Year! I spent the evening with my gorgeous girlfriend sipping Oyster Bay cuvee rose and supping on King Island Double Brie.
We watched Blue Valentine yesterday, and whilst it was an unnecessarily tense and harrowing film, it did serve to remind me of Michelle Williams' extraordinary beauty, and of one of my favourite Vogue UK shoots of all time (Aprill 2008).
